Oman’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has revised the requirements for registering country-code domain names.

Foreign companies may now register domains under .om, .com.om, and .co.om without holding a prior trademark registration in Oman. Previously, submission of a local trademark certificate was commonly expected during the application process.

Under the updated practice, applicants must provide proof of corporate existence or commercial activity. The requested domain name must still correspond to the applicant’s name, brand, or business identity and must not conflict with existing trademarks in the Sultanate.

A local administrative contact or trustee in Oman remains required in most cases. Registrants are also responsible for ensuring that the selected domain name does not infringe third-party rights or violate applicable naming rules.
