Saudi Arabia’s Film Commission has joined the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA), a global organization representing audiovisual preservation institutions across 70 countries. This strategic move aims to bolster the Kingdom’s efforts in preserving its audiovisual heritage through international collaboration and access to best practices.

The membership supports ongoing national initiatives to safeguard film and media assets and aligns with global standards in archiving, digitization, and intellectual property protection. It is also expected to enhance knowledge exchange on preservation technologies, licensing frameworks, and public access policies.

IASA’s annual conferences and working groups offer a platform for advancing innovation in audiovisual archiving, including critical IP issues such as rights management and fair use—topics increasingly relevant as Saudi Arabia expands its cultural and creative sectors.
