The Saudi Patent Office is planning to introduce new directives and regulations governing the protection of utility models or “petty patents”. The new directives and regulations are expected to contain provisions on the granting requirements of utility models (including the novelty requirements), the protection term, the particular subject matters excluded from utility model protection, the compulsory licensing requirements, etc… We will be providing you with further details soon.
