UAE, Oman: Green Corridor Activated for Cargo via Omani Ports

March 17, 2026

Dubai Customs has issued Customs Notice No. 04/2026 announcing the activation of a “Green Corridor” between the Emirate of Dubai and the seaports of the Sultanate of Oman for shipments transported through land routes. The initiative reflects coordination between Dubai Customs and the General Directorate of Customs in Oman to facilitate trade flows and improve the efficiency of regional supply chains.

Scope of the initiative

The Green Corridor applies to goods transported through Omani seaports that are: destined for the local market or free zones in Dubai, or, shipped from Dubai’s local market or free zones for export through Omani seaports. Certain goods listed in the annex to the notice are excluded and will continue to follow standard customs clearance procedures.

Key procedures

For goods arriving from third countries via Omani ports: The shipment must first be declared and cleared in accordance with Omani customs regulations upon arrival at the port. The cargo is then transported under customs supervision to the Al Wajajah border crossing and onward to the Hatta border crossing in Dubai. Final clearance is completed by Dubai Customs, including the submission of the relevant documentation and customs declarations. Goods may be inspected when required before customs seals are applied to containers or trucks.

Required documentation

Shipments using the Green Corridor must generally be accompanied by: a bill of lading, a cargo manifest, and any additional documents required by customs authorities. Goods destined for the Dubai local market will be cleared at the Dry Port Customs Center, while goods bound for Dubai ports or free zones will be processed at the relevant customs centers in those locations.

Compliance and effective date

Failure to comply with the procedures outlined in the notice may result in penalties under the GCC Common Customs Law and its implementing regulations. The notice entered into force on 12 March 2026 and will remain effective until further announcement.
