UAE: Temporary Extension Granted for Submission of Legalized Documents
March 10, 2026
The UAE Ministry of Economy has issued Administrative Decision No. (2) of 2026, confirming that temporary extensions may be granted for certain trademark services where applicants are unable to submit required legalized documents within the prescribed deadlines.
Under this decision, applicants may request monthly extensions following the expiry of the original deadline, including the 90-day period for submitting legalized powers of attorney. Each extension provides an additional 30 days to complete the submission of duly notarized and legalized documents.
Applicants are required to contact the Trademark Office before the expiration of the relevant deadline to request such extensions.
These extensions are granted without additional official fees. Applicants should nevertheless ensure that all required documents are submitted as soon as they become available in order to maintain compliance with filing requirements.
