In line with a recent dug alert issued by the World Health Organization regarding toxic fake toothpastes, the Jordanian food and drug association has warned local consumers about the threats of such products on consumer safety and brand value. Additionally, the Jordanian government announced that it will be conducting regular raids in order to make sure that fake toothpastes are not sold in legitimate retail outlets such as supermarkets, pharmacies, and general stores. Such raids send a direct warning message to all of those who are polluting the Jordanian markets with counterfeit products. The counterfeit tubes were found to contain diethylene glycol, which is toxic to young children and anyone with impaired liver or kidney function.
