The Trademark Office in Kuwait announced that, as of January 20, 2019, the legalized power of attorney must be submitted at the time of filing. Prior to this procedural change, the TMO stipulated that the POA may be submitted within three months from filing date.
As for the priority claim, no changes were made to the deadline. Priority documents in support of trademark applications may be submitted within three months from filing date.
This news follows the TMO’s recent upgrade to the online registration platform, which now includes a preapproved list of goods/services. This update means that, as of December 2018, applicants must claim items exactly as listed in the 10th edition of the Nice Classification or select all good/services listed in the class. Any additions or modifications to the specification of goods/services that broaden the scope as originally filed are not allowed.
