As of October 11, 2024, the Yemeni Trademark Office has officially adopted the 12th edition of the Nice Classification system. This update aligns the classification of goods and services in Yemen with international standards. Yemen follows a single-class application system, and under the 12th edition, trademarks for goods in Class 33 (alcoholic beverages), certain alcoholic goods in Class 32, and pork meat in Class 29 cannot be registered.

Additionally, the publication of all accepted trademarks has transitioned to an electronic format via the Trademark Office system, replacing the use of the official gazette “Al-Tijarah.” At this time, only registered agents and service providers at the Trademark Office have access to this system. This shift to electronic filing also applies to other related matters, including recordals, oppositions, and counterstatements, all of which must now be filed electronically rather than in paper form.
