Iran has recently approved a new trademark, patent, and industrial design law, which was forwarded for publication in the country’s Official Gazette. However, the law will only be effective in the country once its implementing regulations are drafted and issued. The regulations are expected to be issued before the end of this year. The new law outlines the general directives and rulings governing trademark and patent registration, maintenance, assignment, cancellation, and licensing procedures, etc… The new law also contains provisions on the registration and maintenance of designs for the first time in the country. We will be reporting on the main features of the new law once published.
