The Trademark Office in Iraq has announced the adoption of the 11th edition of the Nice International Classification, starting January 2025. This marks a significant shift from the current system, which follows the 7th edition. The new classification will cover 45 classes of goods and services, aligning Iraq with international standards.

One of the key changes is the reclassification of services previously registered under class 42. It remains unclear whether existing registrations will be reclassified to classes 43 to 45 based on the nature of the service immediately following this new decision or at the time of renewal. Additionally, the practice of listing classification headings in alphabetical order is expected to be discontinued with the adoption of the 11th edition, although this has yet to be confirmed.
