Of these, 142 patents were awarded to Moroccan residents, while 502 went to non-residents, showcasing Morocco’s growing attractiveness to international innovators.
In industrial designs, Morocco ranks fifth globally for registered designs relative to GDP, achieving 1,341 designs per $100 billion. This milestone underscores the vibrancy of Morocco’s industrial sector and solidifies its standing alongside global leaders like China, South Korea, and Turkey.
Additionally, 15.2% of trademark applications filed from Morocco sought international protection, reflecting an increased focus on securing brands globally as part of the country’s strategy to strengthen local competitiveness in global markets.
Despite challenges such as the average 23-month processing time for patent applications, Morocco’s efforts to streamline administrative processes and enhance efficiency are paving the way for sustained innovation growth.
These advancements underscore Morocco’s dual focus on fostering local innovation and attracting international investment, reinforcing its position as a leader in intellectual property development.
