Oman experienced an 11% increase in trademark registration applications in 2023, with a total of 13,043 applications, up from 11,742 in 2022, according to the Patent and Trademark Office (PTO). This growth highlights the ongoing expansion of intellectual property (IP) protection in the country.
In the first half of 2024, 6,109 trademarks and 428 patents were registered, reflecting consistent growth in trademark and patent requests over the past two years. The online platform for trademark applications has streamlined access to trademark protection, enabling businesses to prevent fraud and establish strong market identities.
This trend aligns with Oman’s broader efforts to enhance its IP landscape, ensuring robust protection for creators and fostering a secure marketplace where goods and services are clearly differentiated.
