Effective February 15, 2024, Lebanon enacted Law No. 324, revising the fee structure for intellectual property rights and shortening the trademark protection term.
The key changes under Law No. 324 are the increase in official fees for the filing, registration, renewal, and recordal of intellectual property rights, applicable to all pending and future applications. Additionally, the legislation reduces the trademark protection duration from 15 to 10 years for new registrations filed on or after February 15, 2024. However, trademarks registered or renewed prior to the law’s implementation will maintain the former 15-year term before transitioning to the 10-year term for future renewals.
