Saudi Arabia has joined the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs, becoming its 99th member. This step simplifies the process for securing industrial design protection across multiple jurisdictions.
The Hague System, administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), enables designers to obtain rights in multiple countries through a single application. This accession aligns with Saudi Arabia’s efforts to promote innovation and support the creative industries as key contributors to economic growth.
The country has deposited its instrument of accession to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement, with the system set to take effect in Saudi Arabia on April 7, 2025. As a WIPO member since 1982, this move reinforces its commitment to strengthening intellectual property rights on a global scale.
