The Patent Office in Jordan announced that patent examination fees for applications filed after December 9, 2018 are due and must be paid within sixty days from the date of notification. This update applies to all pending national and PCT applications that have completed the filing formalities.
By way of background, as part of the process of acceding to the World Trade Organization, Jordan has enacted Patent Law No. 71 of 2001. The Law is in line with the international standards which Jordan has been committed to through joining the TRIPs Agreement. The Law repealed Patent Law No. 23 of 1999, which suffered ambiguity in several respects.
