The Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) has recently issued a number of draft intellectual property laws including:
- – Copyright Law
- – Intellectual Property Rights Authority Law
- – Patents, Utility Certificates, Industrial Drawings, and Designs Law
- – Trademarks Law
- – Trade Secrets Law
Each of the above draft laws are available on the DIFC website (www.difc.ae) for revision and assessment by the public. The Dubai International Financial Center was founded by the Government of Dubai for the benefit of the United Arab Emirates and the wider region as a whole. Its main goal is to create a regional capital market, offering investors and issuers of capital world-class regulations and standards. Its hallmarks are integrity, transparency, and efficiency. The DIFC has the authority to legislate in relation to civil and commercial matters and has enacted numerous laws ever since its inception in 2005.
